HEALING TOUCH THERAPY: (HT)

Healing Touch is not a massage. Sometimes the practitioner’s hands hover above the body and don’t actually make contact. It is an “energy therapy that uses gentle hand techniques with Guided Imagery and is purported to help re-pattern the patient’s energy field and accelerate healing of the body and mind. It is based on the knowledge that people have fields of energy that are in constant interaction with the environment around them. Healing Touch Energetic Medicine is a non-invasive, integrative energy-based therapy. It works like acupuncture (without the needles): it reconnects and balances blocked energy meridians to promote self healing and a heightened sense of calm. It is especially effective for pain and stress management, accelerates recovery from illness, injury or surgery, and addresses chronic illnesses

BENEFITS OF HT THERAPY:
Patients experience a decrease in pain levels, depression, anxiety, stress, use of pain medication post-operatively and dementia agitation. Patients experience an increase in post-operative recovery acceleration, chemotherapy symptom relief, improved mood, and improved mobility after surgery, immune system strengthening, improved quality of life, deepening of a spiritual connection.
The body has an innate life force which evokes healing, and it’s always trying to get back to that balanced healthy state.

LONG BEFORE PHYSICAL SYMPTOMS APPEAR,
the body’s energetic field is disrupted and out -of- balance. These energy blocks are created by stress, anxiety, illness and disease. The goal of HT and Guided Imagery is to restore harmony and balance by opening blockages within the energy system. This results in physical improvement, mental clarity, and a sense of well-being.

IS HEALING TOUCH EFFECTIVE?
Because of the effective results seen over recent years, Healing Touch is now part of patient care systems in more than 100 hospitals in the United States, including Children’s Memorial in Chicago, Mayo Clinic, Duke University Medical Center and University of California- San Francisco.

HOW DOES IT WORK?
After a brief interview and initial assessment of the individual’s needs and general health, type of dental treatment needed and answering any questions that you may have, the practitioner reappoints you to come back. Evie will then use her hands with light or near-body touch to help clear, balance and energize the human energy system. She may also help you with her voice inflection (using guided imagery) to ease your anxieties, provide support and aid in your comfort. This promotes healing for the mind, body and spirit.

HOW DOES “HT” WORK IN DR. NICHOLAS’ OFFICE?
To experience the benefits of HT, after your initial assessment you will be reappointed to come back 45 minutes before your scheduled dentist appointment. You will check in at the reception desk as usual. Then you will be taken to the private relaxation room where you will meet again with Evie, our certified Healing Touch Practitioner and Certified Wellness Coach. While relaxing in the chair, clothed and reclined in an atmosphere of soothing music, calming waters and tranquil colors, she’ll ask a few more questions regarding your dental appointment, how you are feeling and assess your electromagnetic bio-field. With light or no-touch, she will open, balance and connect your energy centers (chakras) in your body and clear your bio-field to prepare you for your dental appointment immediately following. This will result in a decrease in stress, anxiety and pain. If requested, Evie can continue the energy treatment in the dentist chair while you are with Dr. Nicholas.

IS HEALING TOUCH COVERED BY INSURANCE?
At this time, HT is not a covered benefit.

HOW MUCH DOES A SESSION OF HT COST AT DR. NICHOLAS’ OFFICE?
Included in the $85 fee** is your initial (15 minute) assessment and your 30-45 minute session before your dental appointment. Additional support will be billed at $15.00/15minutes. Payment is due prior to your initial assessment, once you have agreed upon your treatment plan with Dr. Nicholas.
